Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within the city.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires revenge.
  • The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as key figures in House Halovar could help the group access locations they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The cleric defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Explorers and Strategists tables.

Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
